Located near Talawada village, Sitamata Wildlife Sanctuary is a top destination for bird watching and wildlife exploration. This 423-square-kilometer sanctuary, once a royal hunting ground, is a dense forest shaped by the Malwa Plateau, Vindhyachal Hills, and Aravali mountain ranges. It’s crisscrossed by the Jakham, Karmoi, and Sitamata rivers, with the Jakham Dam being the largest.

The sanctuary is home to a variety of wildlife, including leopards, wild boar, hyenas, jackals, jungle cats, porcupines, spotted deer, four-horned antelope, and Nilgai. A highlight is the nocturnal flying squirrel, known for gliding between trees at dusk.
